Rest home living

Rest home, hospital and dementia care

Enliven homes provide quality healthcare in an engaging, caring, homely environment. Our positive ageing services offer a range of care options and accommodation for people who are unable to continue living independently in their own homes.

This includes long term rest home, hospital and dementia care, as well as short-term respite, health recovery care and day programmes.

We see the years that went before; we see you and provide person-centred care that supports your physical, emotional and cultural wellbeing.

Why choose an Enliven home?

There are many reasons people choose an Enliven home. You’ll love the unique homely feel, caring and supportive staff, engaging social calendar, delicious meals and elder-directed philosophy of care.

At Enliven homes we work hard to create a warm, welcoming and home-like environment that is very different to the ‘institutional’ aged care set-ups of the past.

You’re invited to set your room up as you like, and are encouraged to bring along familiar things that make you feel at home.

Enliven homes also have lots of shared spaces, including the residents’ kitchen, lounges, dining room, gardens and courtyards. You can use these spaces whenever you like, to socialise, read, do activities and host visitors.

Enliven homes are more than just ‘family friendly’.

You’re welcome to invite family, whānau and friends to visit at any time – there are no set visiting hours! You’ll often find family and friends joining in with activities and outings.

Community is also a big part of home life. Regular events and special visitors keep us entertained, and help to accommodate group outings.

Enliven recognises the importance of connections with animals. We’ve seen that pets and animal companions can be both calming and energising influences.

We often have cats, small dogs, rabbits and birds living at Enliven homes with their human companions. Even visiting lambs, horses and the odd llama have been known to make an appearance!

If you have a pet that is part of your family, talk to us about them moving into the home with you.

At Enliven we like to make sure there is always plenty of nutritious and delicious food to enjoy.

Of course, residents’ breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert are all provided, but there are always snacks, fruit and morning and afternoon tea treats on hand.

Many of our homes have stores that are run by residents, for residents, and the local shops are never far away.

The Enliven team is committed to supporting residents to maintain their independence and interests in a way that’s right for them.

You’ll be able to get involved in our stimulating social calendar and engaging recreation programme, which runs seven days a week.

Planned activities include a wide range of events, outings, group activities and entertainment. There is also lots of spontaneous activity too, and many people continue to attend clubs, meetings and groups in the local community.

The home’s group activities, such as craft groups, wine-tasting, gardening groups, and book clubs are based on the current residents’ interests. You are encouraged to let staff know about you hobbies, interests and passions so we can support you to keep them up.

At Enliven homes, you call the shots; it’s all part of being truly elder-focused.

That means you will be involved in decisions around the running of their home and your daily life can involve as much or as little structure as you like.

We support people to continue with the routines they enjoy and thrive on. For example, waking up and/or getting out of bed at a certain time in the morning, having a cup of tea in bed in their pyjamas before breakfast, having a wine with dinner or perhaps a whiskey before bed.
