Who We Are

Enliven Central

Enliven Central supports older people to live with dignity, independence and connection. We create warm, welcoming communities where elders have real choice in their daily lives and the confidence that professional support is close by when it’s needed.

We support and care for people at the most vulnerable times of their lives, to make a lasting and positive difference in times of need.

Our Whakapapa and Heritage

Enliven is part of Presbyterian Support Central (PSC), one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most established, not‑for‑profit social service organisations. Our whakapapa stretches back more than a century of caring for communities. Today, Enliven provides services for older people while our sister service, Family Works Central, supports tamariki, rangatahi and whānau. Together, we help build safe, strong and connected communities.

Our Philosophy of Care - The Eden Alternative

Our approach is guided by the Eden Alternative – an internationally recognised philosophy that focuses on eliminating loneliness, helplessness and boredom.

We do this by creating communities where elders enjoy companionship, maintain purpose, and have genuine choice and control.

Eden’s principles are woven into everyday life in our homes and villages: from welcoming pets and regular visitors to resident‑led activities, shared gardens and the rhythms of home.
