Fidget sleeves, also known as ‘fiddle muffs’ or ‘twiddle sleeves’ are a sensory tool for elderly experiencing dementia.
The ability to fiddle with the range of items attached to the sleeve can calm people and alleviate stress. They have been shown to reduce the requirement for medication. The wearing of them like a sleeve mean they are less likely to be lost or mislaid.
The fidget sleeves have the appearance of a double layered tube with cuffs at both ends. The attached buttons, cords and different textured wools provide plenty of opportunity for restless hands. Made with incredibly soft acrylic yarn, they can be easily machine washed. Lots of bright colours and textural embellishments allow sensory stimulation, bring focus, encourage calmness and can decrease anxiety. All buttons and beads have been securely attached and can be individually snipped off when they wear out.
Both hands will fit inside or they can be pushed up one arm. The colours are bright and welcoming. The colour combinations have been chosen to be suitable for both men and women.
