Reevedon Home receives highest tick of approval in rest home care

Enliven’s Reevedon Home in Levin has been officially recognised for its first-rate care.

Enliven’s Reevedon Home in Levin was recently awarded a four-year certification from the Ministry of Health. It’s the maximum certification period available and indicates that Reevedon Home is maintaining the highest level of quality in all facets of operation.

Reevedon Home manager Jenny Hodgen says the secret to offering excellent care is ensuring residents feel heard and respected as individuals with unique strengths and needs.

“We do our best to offer support which is tailored to each resident’s goals, interests and individual personality. If a resident has a passion for singing, or rugby, for instance, we’ll help them find ways to keep that passion alive. Equally, if a resident likes having breakfast in bed each morning, we’ll make it happen.

“Offering clinical support is obviously an important aspect of what we do here, but it’s about more than that. It’s about supporting the entire person.”

Reevedon Home and Village is operated by Enliven, part of the not-for-profit organisation Presbyterian Support Central, and offers independent retirement living, rest home care, short-term respite and a day programme.

Both Reevedon Home and sister-home, Levin Home for War Veterans on Prouse Street, follow Enliven’s elder-centred philosophy, which is based on the internationally-recognised Eden Alternative care model.

The Enliven philosophy encourages elders to enjoy meaningful activity, independence and companionship. It also emphasises the importance of contact with animals and nature and regular interaction with children in elders’ lives.
