Covid-19 update: Orange

On Wednesday 13 April 2022, New Zealand moved to the Orange setting in the Covid-19 Protection Framework (the “Traffic Light System”). You can read more about life at Orange on the Government’s Covid-19 website here: https://covid19.govt.nz/traffic-lights/life-at-orange/

Visiting Enliven homes

For Enliven homes in the Orange setting there is little change in the protection measures to what was put in place under the Red setting.

Under Orange we have lifted the restriction on visiting numbers and fully vaccinated children of any age may now visit our homes.

Our current Covid-19 protection measures

  • All visitors must be fully vaccinated, including children.
  • A well fitted surgical or N95 mask must be worn at all times, including in your loved one’s room.
  • Visitors will be required to return a negative rapid antigen test before entering. We will provide the tests. We do ask for your patience when visiting outside of usual reception hours.
  • All visitors must sanitise, sign in and complete the declaration on arrival.
  • Visits will take place in your loved one’s room or in one of our outdoor spaces if the weather is good – please avoid indoor shared spaces such as the resident lounges.
  • Maintain a 1-metre distance from others, including your loved one.
  • If you have and Enliven Visitor ID, please wear it at all times.
  • Do not visit if you have:
    • been identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for Covid-19
    • any cold, flu or Covid -19 symptoms
    • been sick in the last 48 hours.
  • Visitors with an Enliven Visitor ID (lanyard) may visit at any time, provided you are wearing your ID. Visitors without a Visitor ID must visit during visiting hours. You may be asked to show your vaccine pass.

We understand how difficult these restrictions can be, but it will provide your loved one’s with the highest level of protection.

We strongly advise you not to take your loved ones out of the home. If you do, please avoid indoor public places and large gatherings. Elders and their families should wear a mask at all times while out and about. Please keep a record of where you have been for contact tracing purposes.

Temporary closure to visitors

If we are unfortunate enough to get Covid-19 in our home, we will need to close to visitors at short notice. This will allow the team to concentrate entirely on providing the best possible care and support to residents and significantly help with infection control.

If you’re unsure as to whether your Enliven home is currently open to visitors, we suggest you email the home beforehand to avoid disappointment.

Contacting the Enliven team

If you wish to talk to a team member or schedule a video call with a resident, please email the home rather than calling. We will schedule a time to call you back. With staffing so tight this will allow us to minimise disruptions to resident care and support. We also ask that you email us rather than stopping staff for a ‘corridor’ conversation when visiting. We are truly sorry about this, it’s not how we like to operate either, but it will allow us to focus much more on resident care during these unprecedented times.

A note for contractors
We are closely monitoring who is coming in and out of our homes, villages and centres. As such, please email the home manager or administrator to let them know you are coming. Please provide as much notice as possible. If at any time that we have Covid-19 cases in one of our Enliven homes, these sites will need to remain fully operational.

However, only urgent and/or essential work will be carried out. As contractors, it is important that you always make contact with the home prior to arrival to check the status. The manager and/or administrator will be able to advise you on whether you’re able enter and what protocols you’ll need to follow.

Visitors to Enliven villages

Visitors to Enliven’s Retirement Villages should keep at least a 1-metre distance from others as you move through the village. You must be fully vaccinated and wearing a mask to use any of the common areas. We may ask to see your Vaccine Pass. Thank you for your understanding.

All fully vaccinated visitors are welcome during reception hours when the receptionist is available to scan your Vaccine Pass. Visitors with an Enliven Visitor ID can visit any time.
