Respite options with Enliven

Respite care gives family carers a chance to take a break or go on holiday, while their loved ones stay with Enliven.

Enliven is reminding the community that short-term respite options are available at is rest homes.

Respite care gives family carers a chance to take a break or go on holiday, while their loved ones stay with Enliven.

Our homes can offer rest home and hospital-level respite care, depending on availability.

Elders who choose respite care at an Enliven home get to participate in all the activities run at the home, and of course all their meals are provided, says Enliven General Manager Nicola Turner.

“For families it allows them that break that they might need where they can relax and focus on other things.”

Respite care can range in length from a few days, to a week or longer periods, depending on the needs of the person and their family caregiver.

Nicola says if a family has a holiday planned and is looking for respite care, it helps to get in touch with an Enliven home to talk about respite options once the dates are known.

“Taking time away to refresh and recharge your batteries, even for just a little while, can make a big difference to your wellbeing.”

All Enliven’s homes follow the elder-centred philosophy, which encourages elders to enjoy companionship, spontaneity, variety, independence, choice and meaningful activity.
